About the Video
The 2026 Korean Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia draws on the idea of “Liberation Space,” the period of nation building that followed Korea’s liberation in 1945 till the 1948 establishment of the new state. Curator Binna Choi explains how this pivotal moment in history informs Liberation Space: Fortress/Nest, the title of this year’s pavilion. Artists Goen Choi and Hyeree Ro speak to how their contributions transform the space into a living monument that explores how liberation is an ongoing process of movement and renewal.
