About the Video
Yiyun Kang uses spatial projection mapping installations to explore boundaries. Internationally recognized for her projection mapping installations, and exhibited in a number of museums and galleries in Europe, Asia and the United States, Yiyun’s art explores the borders between the real and the virtual.
Commissioned by MaxMara in 2017 for its exhibition, ‘Coats!’, Yiyun appropriated imagery from the Max Mara archive for her installation, ‘Deep Surface’, which projected animated patterns onto a custom-constructed 20m dome.
As art continues to skate between the real and the virtual, Yiyun’s projection mapping artworks take us further into mixed-reality environments - via her fascination with architecture and light - as we witness the intersection of art, technology, and experience.

About the Program
In 2018, Hyundai Motor extended its partnership with Bloomberg to produce “ART + TECHNOLOGY,” a video series exploring science and technology, and how the breakthroughs impact contemporary art and everyday life. The series spans multiple seasons, with a new area of focus each year, including robotics, the blockchain, and AI. Our partnership with Bloomberg creates opportunities for audiences worldwide to connect across boundaries by engaging with art and new ideas. New episodes of “ART + TECHNOLOGY” will continue to be released through Spring 2024, available to stream for free online along with our first Bloomberg series, “Brilliant Ideas.”
