Eligibility & FAQs - 2024 Artlab Editorial Fellowship
The Artlab Editorial Fellowship is a global open call; all writers who meet the eligibility requirements may apply. The general eligibility requirements are listed below.
Eligibility
- Must be an individual; submitting on their own behalf
- Must be able to write proficiently in English
- Must be a published author with (3) pieces of publicly published and credited work
- Must be engaged with the world of contemporary art
- Must include contact info for 1-2 professional references
Non-Eligibility
- Applying on behalf of an organization, company, institution, museum, or publication
- An artist, writer, or curator writing an interpretive essay on their own practice
FAQ
When will the application period open?
The application period will open on 12:00 AM ET, Tuesday February 27, 2024. All submissions must be submitted by 11:59 PM ET, Sunday March 31, 2024. No late submissions will be accepted.
What kind of applicant are you looking for?
We are especially looking for writers whose forward-thinking insights and intimate ties to their communities and geographic regions offer a critical lens through which to view art as a bellwether for change.
What do you mean by community?
In addition to location-specific communities, we are also inclusive of communities that may be virtual or transnational. Applicants should have demonstrable and thoughtful connections with these communities, rooted in care and nuanced understanding.
Do applicants need to be a citizen of a specific country?
The Artlab Editorial Fellowship is open to and encourages all nationalities.
Is there an age requirement to submit?
Applicants must be 18 years or older.
How many times can I apply?
Applicants are allowed (1) submission only. If multiple applications from a single applicant are received, only the first submission will be considered.
What are the publishing requirements?
Fellows are obligated to complete (3) articles for Artlab Editorial by December 31, 2024.
What if I am unable to complete the (3) required articles in 2024 for the Artlab Editorial Fellowship?
Failure to complete Fellowship requirements will result in forfeiture of Fellowship.
Who reviews my entry submission?
Entry submissions will be reviewed by our Advisory Committee and the Hyundai Artlab team.
When will the Artlab Editorial Fellowship recipients be announced?
The Fellowship recipients will be announced in May 2024.
If my proposal is not accepted, will I find out why?
Due to the large number of applications we receive, we are unable to share with you the reason your proposal was not selected.
